In Ayurvedic medicine, marma points are anatomical locations in your body where a concentration of life energy exists. Marma points are said to contain the three doshas:
Location of marma points
Itβs said that there are 107 Marma points in various locations around the human body:
Marma Point Therapy is an Ayurvedic counterpart to Acupressure in Chinese Medicine. The word Marma means, βvital energy pointβ and refers to points of energy located throughout the human body. Marma points serve as a bridge or doorway between body + mind + soul. Each Marma has a receptor point on the skin that correlates with specific chakras, organs and tissues through which Prana (vital energy) passes.
Imbalances, sinus problems, mental exhaustion, stress, lack of sleep, anxiety, worry and overthinking, hyperactivity and so on. When you touch these points, there may be some pain or tenderness at the site of the marma which is the bodyβs way of conveying that there is some weakness, impurity or imbalance in one or more aspects to the body associated with that specific marma point. With that in mind, we can then treat, through massage and marma point therapy, the skin and begin to bring balance to the mind and body.

When you inhale an essential oil, the molecules go into your nasal passage to the olfactory system. From there, they move to the limbic system, which deals with your bodyβs emotions, memories, and physical response. The limbic system also influences the Endocrine System and Autonomic Nervous System. The Endocrine System contains glands that secrete hormones into the blood stream. These hormones act like chemical mediators that regulate body function such as mood, metabolism, and development. The
Autonomic Nervous System regulates instinctive bodily functions such as heart rate, respiration, perspiration, and digestion.
Through topical application, essential oil particles are absorbed into the bloodstream and dispersed. Some components can pass through the blood brain barrier and to the limbic system, where they can influence the Endocrine and Autonomic systems. When applied topically, the essential oil molecules affect the body, skin, muscles, joints, and organs by penetrating the skin, entering the dermal layer and interacting with blood and lymph vessels, connective tissue, and sensory nerves.
